Not all of your customers will be good about paying their accounts on time. You will have your stragglers. There are a few ways to keep your customers on the right track.
1)Invoices
That works for big and small companies. An invoice clearly demonstrates a "priority." The sooner you pay it off, the sooner the company will leave you alone. An invoice denotes a flag in the system. A flag needs to be dealt with as soon as possible.
2)Clear Communication
You need to be clear about your expectations. You cannot leave out any important details. Some customers do not pay because they were not aware of the details.
"You did not tell me. How am I supposed to know?"
Customers who do not pay will use this excuse. They are correct to a degree. You need to hold up your end of the bargain. The rest lies with your customer.
3)Sending the Payment to the Right Person
Did you send the payment to the right person? The buyer may not be the person responsible for the payment. You cannot assume they are one in the same. You need to check the address. You can set up a recurring bill system once you have the right address or person on file.
4)Courtesy
Courtesy is a big one for many people. You should always say please and thank you to the person who makes the purchase. You should also say it to the person who pays the bills. Professional courtesy is one thing that makes a difference. Lack of professional courtesy might be a reason why some customers do not pay on time.
